Good morning, Parents of McNary Elementary,
We went into lock down this morning at 8:01, due to a person of interest chasing our students on the way to school with a bat and trying to hit them. The school security along with teachers moved all students into their classrooms without any hesitation. The students responded and everything went as well as expected. Police were notified and the person on interest has been apprehended and is in police custody. Our students and staff are safe with no harm to anyone.
We extended the lock down due the location of the person of interest in proximity to the school. I want to thank our security officer Keith Nuanez, our custodian Jimmy Sanchez, and Jerron Daley for their support and effort during this time. Thank you, Cheryl Kane, for keeping the lines of communication open with our school during this time.
Our school board was in communication with the Superintendent and wanted all means of support exhausted to ensure your students safety.
Thank you, parents, for your continued support of our school. If you have any questions, please notify the school at 928-334-2293.
Thank you.
Dr. Greg Fowler
Superintendent,
